when is the best time to visit italy?

hi guys, further to my title, ive solicited some inputs and have heard varying suggestions ranging from:a) june - july -- dont go coz it'll be too crowded with tourists, too hot, tickets to expensive etc etc. others have said that's the best time to go.b) oct - it will be nice and uncongested -- however it might be rainy (?!). any suggestions? does it matter? many thanks for your insights!

As per my knowledge October and November is best time for travel in Italy, that time vary nice weather not too much cold and no too much hot as well and nice balance atmosphere, and also Christmas is in December so get good starting discount in shopping that time. other part of Europe also good weather in this time so we can travel easily and stressful.
