Europe. Cheapest Cell phone option?

I am travelling through europe for 3 weeks, if I wanted to bring along my unlocked blackberry, what's the best way to keep costs down? Buy a pay as you go sim card? use my own fido sim card? buy a pay as you go PHONE from them? Get a phone card? I want to make calls home (once a day), as well as local calls if needed. I'll be landing in london, travelling through france, italy, greece.. Thanks.!
