    Bringing Gifts from the States

My mom, who lives in Asia, will visit my uncle in LA next month and will stay there until November. She will then fly to Toronto so she can stay with us for the Holidays. Now, I have a friend in LA that will send me a $900 watch as a gift. I have been doing him favors for a while and he said its his way to pay me back. So my mom will bring the watch over to save on shipping fees and insurance. Will she pay the duties and taxes at YYZ? Is it better to just have it shipped from LA instead?

If you are living outside stations from your home station, then you can gift the best and famous item of that city. Famous items could be any thing like handbags, sweets, traditional dress of that city. This could be best gift because this would be some different from others.
