    Default Europe in Spring

The first of what is sure to be many posts: The girlfriend and I are planning on backpacking Europe early 2011. We are thinking of leaving mid January to mid February. I was wondering what people think of the tarvel at that time? Any experiances, good or bad? As far as weather we know it will only be slightly above 0 but coming from Western Canada's December weather we are thinking we will be alright. As an aside we are wondering if people would recomend booking a cheap flight (as its the off season) or going the last minute route (potentally sleeping in the airport). Know we have lots of time to look but just curious as to what others think. Thanks guys, any feedback is appreciated. BTW Thinking of starting in Ireland & the UK, hopefully its warm enough to hit up the beaches by the time we get to Greece.

Springtime is a fabulous time to come to Europe. Sure, you might get a little rain, but there are medieval arcades to walk under and churches to duck into, like the one above.
