Using VISA/MC in Europe - Bad Idea?

Hey guys,About to take off for a week in Sweden. I'm taking about $5000 in Swedish Crowns with me (not much, only about $800 CDN), and was hoping to get more money as I needed it while there. Does anyone know what VISA's policy is for using the card overseas? Do they just charge you a straight conversion, or are there fees on top?I also have a Mastercard.Just looking for the best way to get money once I've landed in Sweden. Thanks!

If we fast forward to today ecommerce is common place. Ecommerce solutions like Shopify exist to make selling online affordable and accessible to even the smallest of new and startup businesses. Similarly, most banks and credit card processors no longer see ecommerce as high risk.
