need advice on eurotrip 2011/12 and visas

I am planning on heading to Europe/UK in August. My parents are currently living in London so i will spend a few months with them before they leave again. I then plan to travel throughout Europe for the next (approximately) year.
I was originally planning on getting a UK working holiday visa and staying for the two years, working and then travelling throughout Europe, but have since come to think that maybe it is wiser to save that for later in life when i have a more focussed career goal and can find the opportunity to be sponsored, rather than wasting it now.
Basically what i want is peoples' opinion. Do you think it is a smarter move to brush the visa completely for the moment and just travel, finding work where possible? Or to get the UK working holiday visa now? Or to possibly get a visa to another country?
I'm really just confused as to what is the smarter option and would appreciate any input or experience on this matter, thanks

Tourist visas do not allow you to work if it is not an option. If you want to work, you must request the appropriate visa.
I think you have to decide whether to travel, work or do both. And you must decide where you want to do (the requirements vary by country).

For a combination of scenic beauty and classic European architecture and sights, Eurotrip recommends the above itinerary for a one month highlight of the Best of Western Europe.

First, soak up the atmosphere of London with new and old architecture standing side by side in one of the most dynamic cities in the world. Then, party it up in picturesque Amsterdam before boarding a train to the ultra-hip and historic Berlin, Germany. Next, dip your feet into Eastern Europe and experience the magic of Kafka’s Prague before heading to the home of Oktoberfest and liter steins in Munich. Recover from Munich’s legendary hangover by getting a whiff of the fresh, crisp air in Innsbruck and rest up before making your way through the crowds of Venice, one of the most fascinating cities in the world. After Venice, travel through the Tuscan countryside and experience the Renaissance masterpieces in Florence before again hitting the rails and coasting up through Switzerland to the stunning Grindelwald. After Switzerland, the City of Lights awaits. Spend 4 days soaking up everything Paris has to offer before heading back for a day or two in London.

While this itinerary certainly does not cover everything Europe has to offer, it is a nicely paced backpacking trip that highlights some of the best cities on the continent.

Our suggested itinerary (before airfare and a rail pass) is $3000 USD. This is a comfortable budget that can be adjusted depending on an individual’s travel style. This budget generally suffices for a bed at a hostel, a few beers at a bar, a combination of hostel cooked meals and cheap restaurants and admission to museums.
