Hey, I am going travelling at beginning of Oct, I actually have 6 months in Asia. I was going to start in North Thailand, Chaing Mai etc, I would like to go to laos, Vietnam and Cambodia where I hope to do some volunteering work in Phnom Penh.
I want to be back in Southern Thailand by late Dec as I am meeting friends, from then on I have plenty of time. So am not fussed if I have to rush this first part of journey, as in it not being to relaxing, I just don't want to miss out. Is 8 weeks enough for me to travel round and see most things, I will then have my 3 weeks in Phnom Penh Cambodia, but will only have the weekends to really get out and about.
I was in Vietnam, five weeks for the last time, and I felt that I saw only part of it. If you have six months ago, no need to rush, to go up when you get here.
Follow those steps:
1. Fly to Ha Noi, Viet Nam: You need 7 days to discover every things in the northen part of Vietnam
2. Laos: 7 days in this country is more than enough
3. Mid Viet Nam: From Laos you can take a bus to the middle of Viet Nam. Spend 7 days in the middle of Vietnam is enough.
4. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam: You can fly from Da Nang. Spend one night in Ho Chi Minh city before flying to Phu Quoc.
5. Phu Quoc island, Vietnam: 3 days staying here is enough but if you would like to get more relax, you can stay longer.
6. Cambodia: Speed boat is available from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien where you can depart for Cambodia by bus. Spend 7 days in Cambodia to see Sihanouk Ville, Phnom Penh & Siem Riep (Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom)
7. Thailand: Accessible from Siem Riep by bus in a distance. Stay here as long as you want before flying back or you can continue your longer trip to Malaysia and Singapore.
