Default Where to Stay in the Algarve

Boasting great weather, gorgeous beaches and world-class leisure facilities, the Algarve has long been a popular holiday destination. If you're trying to decide whereabouts to stay for your villa holidays, read our guide.

Nestled in the south of Portugal, the Algarve offers holidaymakers the ideal combination of traditional Portuguese culture, cosmopolitan destinations, great spots to relax and plenty of activities to get involved in.

Algarve holiday villas allow you to make the most of this exciting, sunny haven - particularly if you select one of the many excellent beach resorts. There are plenty to choose from - and to discover some of the best, read on.

    Alcantarilha

Villas in Alcantarilha are a particularly interesting option because they give you a chance to experience more than the coast alone. Indeed, situated a few miles inland, this is not the most obvious choice for a beach getaway - but it is something of a hidden gem.

Staying here, you'll be able to enjoy the charming village atmosphere, with its narrow cobbled streets and inviting cafes serving excellent coffee.

What's more, it's situated just a stone's throw from the fabulous beach at Aramacao da Pera. Drive for mere minutes to reach this gorgeous seaside location, while superb golf courses and a host of entertainment facilities and shops are located similarly close by.

    Luz

If you want to experience a traditional atmosphere but stay in a villa right on the beach, Luz is an excellent option.

It is a planned resort, meaning that the air of the traditional fishing village it has is not altogether authentic, but it is certainly wonderful - and it's situated right next to a stunning beach.

This stretch of sand is deep, wide and one side plays host to some charming rock pools perfect for little ones - and big kids! - to explore.

    Carvoeiro

Should you be planning a family getaway, you'll find Carvoeiro is one of the best destinations to choose. Indeed, it is among the most attractive in the Algarve and offers holidaymakers an excellent combination of sublime beaches and a charming small-town atmosphere.

Several of its numerous stretches of sand boast incredible, sheer-cliff backdrops, while you're likely to discover local boatmen are only too pleased to provide tours of the coast.

Head into the little town, meanwhile, to soak up the welcoming ambience and browse the many great shops.

September is a decent time of year to visit the Algarve district for dependably dry sunny climate and warm ocean temperatures, short the exceptional warmth that occasionally describes the late spring months. The normal daytime temperature at the capital of the Algarve, Faro, is 27°C, and the temperature tumbles to 18°C by and large overnight. In any case, heatwaves still manifest once in a while and temperatures above 35°C are at times reported right on time in the month.

During the summer I usually go to the Algarve with a group of friends and we prefer to stay in hotels so as not to be in danger of falling victim to any online fraud.
The area of the quarteira is the best for us, because we are very close to Vilamoura so we can have fun at night.
