Albania can trace its historical roots back to the prehistoric era some 300,000 years ago when nomadic peoples roamed the area, living out of various caves across the land. With over a majority of the country rising into hills and mountains, and a coastline facing the Adriatic Sea, Albania experiences a variety of climate conditions.
Winters are generally mild in the lowlands and along the coast, with average temperatures around 45°F (7°C). Inland temperatures vary depending on the elevation, and are typically much cooler.
Throughout the country, summer temperatures hover around a very comfortable 75°F (24°C).
