Malawi is a landlocked country in southeast Africa, distinguished by the Great Rift Valley and the enormous Lake Malawi. A large portion of the lake, particularly its southern end, is protected by Lake Malawi National Park, home to a wide variety of wild animals ranging from colorful fish to monkeys. The park's clear waters are also popular for swimming and canoeing. A number of popular beach resorts may be found on the peninsular tip of Cape Maclear.
