Egypt is a republic with a developing economy. It has extensive facilities for tourists. The Egyptian government screens travelers before allowing entry/exit through the Rafah border crossing with Gaza. The State Department advises U.S. citizens not to travel to Gaza. U.S. travel groups and/or humanitarian aid convoys that need to cross this border should contact the Egyptian Embassy in Washington and arrange for permission for their trip before travel.

Egypt, a nation connecting upper east Africa with the Middle East, dates to the season of the pharaohs. Centuries old landmarks sit along the ripe Nile River Valley, including Giza's goliath Pyramids and Great Sphinx and also Luxor's symbolic representation lined Karnak Temple and Valley of the Kings tombs. The capital, Cairo, is home to Ottoman points of interest like Muhammad Ali Mosque and the Egyptian Museum, a trove of ancient pieces.
