Tunisia, officially the Republic of Tunisia, is the smallest country in North Africa. It is a Maghreb country bordered by Algeria to the west, Libya to the southeast and the Mediterranean sea to the north and east.
The word Tunisia is derived from Tunis; a city and capital of modern-day Tunisia. The present form of the name, with its Latinate suffix -ia, evolved from French Tunisie. The French derivative Tunisie was adopted in some European languages with slight modifications, introducing a distinctive name to designate the country.
Tunisia is one of Africa’s smallest destinations, a place where visitors approximately outnumber the locals in high summer, and flock here for the golden sandy beaches and non-stop sunshine. The best time to visit Tunisia is in the slightly cooler months from September to June. November is excellent for desert excursions. There are lots of restaurants and hotels are located where you can enjoy every moment.
